Joberg Foundation Hands Over Maternity Ward to Otumfuo Foundation.

A foundation that seeks to improve the lives of people especially the lives of Ghanaians called Joberg Foundation,has handed over the keys of a newly maternity ward of the Manhyia government hospital to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.

The maternity ward of the hospital which is located in the Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashanti Region will be commissioned properly be the Otumfuo Foundation.

Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, Otumfuo Hiahene who is the Board Chairman of the Otumfuo Foundation on March 8,2024, indicated that Joberg Foundation proposed a project which they wanted to put up for Otumfuo Foundation to train female dress makers.

“The idea was perfect but we opted for the maternity ward for the Manhyia government hospital,he said.

“This was because Her Royal Highness Lady Julia had seen footages and videos on television which shown pregnant women lying on the bare floor of the hospital’s maternity facility, adding that this unwanted footages had compelled Her Royal Highness to have asked the foundation (Otumfuo Foundation) to consider constructing a maternity block to add more beds to the existing ones of the facility before Joberg came in with their proposal”,he added.

Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II noted that the construction of the ward will help reduce the pressure on the existing facility and so lauded Joberg Foundation for their works.

Speaking to OTEC news reporter Sarkodie Samuel,the Chief Executive Officer CEO of Joberg Foundation,Joseph Magnus Marteye revealed that the vision of the foundation is to render help to the vulnerable in our societies

He disclosed that the situation of the maternity ward was not pleasant and needed an extension.

He continued to state that the newly maternity block is constructed to add thirty beds to the existing ones of the hospital.

The CEO said that the foundation will extend their tentacles to reach out to more people in the country.

Dr. Kwame Danso, the head of department of Obstetrics and gynaecology(O & G)of the Manhyia government hospital also emphasized that the facility will improve maternal care of the hospital.

He therefore expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation and Joberg Foundation for putting up such facility for the hospital.
