A/R: man,30,attempts suicide after inflicting cutlass wounds on ex-girlfriend

A young man believed to be in his 30s is said to have attempted suicide after he inflicted cutlass wounds on his former girlfriend.

The incident, according to reports is said to have occurred on January 27,2024,at Pramso in the Bosomtwe Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect who is identified as Akwesman, according to reports,is a trained teacher who is waiting for a posting.

The former girlfriend(unidentified) is also a nurse who works at in a yet to be  identified hospital at Pramso.

The two, according source are all natives of Adansi Patakro in the Adansi Fomena District of the Ashanti Region.

According to the source, they were lovers since senior high school time but the parents of the lady objected to their relationship and separated them because they wanted their daughter to pursue her education.

After the separation,the two were secretly seeing each other sexually which resulted in pregnancy,the source disclosed.

The family of the lady after realizing the state of their daughter decided to let her deliver and let the boyfriend (Akwesman) take responsibility,but still allow the daughter to pursue her education, refusing Akweseman from getting married to their daughter.

The boyfriend took advantage of having a child with the nurse to visit them anytime he wanted,but also tried to pursue his ambition of marrying the nurse every time he visited.

Akwesman visited her at Pramso on Saturday, January 27,2024 but refused to return to Patakro after the ex-girlfriend served him food to eat.

The unidentified nurse after noticing Akwesman didn’t want to leave tried to contact committee members of the community in order to get a place for him to sleep since there was no space to accommodate him,but before she could realized Akwesman started inflicting wounds on her with cutlass.

According to the source, Akwesman tried to take his life after he noticed a mob action on him for doing that to the former girlfriend.

The two are said to have been taken to the said hospital at Pramso where the lady works and are responding to treatment with the man been handcuffed.

The police according to reports will take up the matter for investigations.
