Organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) has assured Ghanaians that musicians and patrons would be thoroughly scanned during this year’s event.

The event organisers said they would use full-body scanners just as is done at the various airports.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Thursday, 28 January 2020, the Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade, said security would not be toyed with this time round and pleaded with potential patrons and musicians to bear with them when they are taken through the security processes.

“Last year, we used the hand-held scanners, we did not use the full-body scanners. But now, all the rest are going to be rolled out. We’re going to have bag scanners, body scanners, we will scan you till you are tired.

“Now, we are all of a heightened sense of security and we feel we should do that. It’s good for all of us. We need to ensure the safety of all our patrons. So, subsequently, if you come for the event, we ask you to remove your shoes, open your bands, stretch your arms, you know we’ll do all of that so bear with us”.

Charterhouse, last year, banned and stripped dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale of all their awards after they distracted the ceremony.

Stonebwoy, who was on stage to receive an award, pulled a gun after he realised that his archrival Shatta Wale had walked on stage with his fans.
