Two people have been reported dead in an accident on the Yendi – Tamale highway MyNewsGh.com can report.
A Mercedes-Benz bus with registration number NR 9790 C, which was driving from Yendi heading towards tamale with 33 passengers on board is reported to have veered off the road when the driver lost control of the steering wheel.
According to the 38-year-old driver, who gave his name as Sulemana Musah the steering wheel of his vehicle removed in the middle of the journey while the vehicle was on top speed, which made him lose control, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Northern region, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko.
Speaking to an eye witness he said five of the passengers including the driver sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently responding to treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The bodies have of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
