There is relative calm at the Asokore Mampong Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission after Friday’s disturbances that resulted in injuries and destruction of properties.

Armed police and military officers have been stationed at the centre as the process which was due to start at 7am started at about 10:30 am on Saturday.

A barricade has also been mounted with the main entrance of the Commission’s office cordoned off.

Both supporters of the NDC and the NPP have been cautioned by security forces told to stay away from inner parameters where the exercise is ongoing.

Properties including vehicles were vandalized during Friday’s misunderstanding between both parties.

Both parties were engaged in disagreements over which applicant qualifies to register in the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise since the start of the process.

A day earlier, the exercise was temporarily halted after an altercation ensued between members of the two parties.

Meanwhile, some applicants have told Citi News that the process has been extremely slow, this forcing them to spend several hours in a queue.

“We have been here for two days. What we need is the card and some are coming and doing are doing it for us and we are still here. They are doing protocol registration and all that. It is disturbing is…These NDC and NPP people are bothering us,” an applicant said.

“We have been here since 5am and the queue is not moving. They are wasting our time. This is really bad,” another applicant said.
