A 50 Year old trader, Mr. Emmanuel Akotua Owusu, is currently having a swallow eyes sight after been manhandled by Lance Corporal Addo and two Community Police Assistants of Nsawam Police Station in the Eastern Region.
The victim was allegedly beating up and suffered countless blows from the three Police officers when they went to cause his arrest on a complain lodge against him by one Prophet Justice Arhin aka Domebra, at Asarekrom in the Nsawam/ Adoagyiri Municipal.
Prophet Justice Arhin, founder and Leader of ‘’ Arise To The Temple Prayer Ministry’’, a tenant who operates his church on the premises of the family house headed by the victim [Mr. Akotua Owusu] as gathered in last year December ordered one of his boys to perform some rituals involved with a cat, parrot and an egg on the family house compound in the absence of the caretaker.
After the rituals was performed the remains of the parrot, cat and the egg were left on the ground.
Mr. Emmanuel Akotua Owusu, the caretaker who resides in his own apartment adjacent to the family house when heard the information invited the Prophet to come and answered the reasons why he performed the rituals in their family house without his knowledge but he failed to show up.
He further summoned Prophet Justice Arhin to the chiefs of Akuapem – Larteh where he failed to show up for the second time.
The caretaker then sent the matter to the chiefs of Nsawam where the pastor on the third time refuses to appear before the chiefs.
However, Mr. Emmanuel Akotua who has no option decides to take legal action against the Prophet.
Speaking on the matter, he noted that, in the process to take the legal action, he was at his shop on one Friday in last year December when the Prophet’s boy who went to perform the rituals came and wanted to buy an item which he refuse to sell it to the guy.
According to him, within some minutes the guy left his shop, three Police officers led by Lance Corporal Addo came to invite him to the Nsawam Police station that he has assaulted the Prophet’s boy.
Mr. Akotua who expressed of being surprise of the complaint made against him said ‘’ I told them to go and I will report myself in three hours’ time because some people were coming to me for their money. They agreed and left, but in an hour and half later, they came back again and I told them the same thing’’.
He continued that, ‘’ When I told them to go and will follow them because I will give money to the people am expecting, Mr. Addo said no, so I demanded to lock my shop before going with them. Mr. Addo did not agree. They tried to force me into a waiting taxi, which I resisted because I had not locked my shop’’.
‘’ Regardless to my plea, the officers force me into the taxi, and on our way to the Police station, they started beating me up me hitting me with countless blows on my eye, until we get to the station’’ he worried narrated.
He added that, he request for a Police Hospital medical form to go to the hospital, but they refuse to give him.
‘’ It was later in the day that my son returned from school that I was granted bail and he sent me to the hospital. Since up to date all my two sights can’t see properly, am having severe pains in my eye and parts of my body. I have to be attending hospitals for check up every week but I don’t have money ’’.
Mr. Emmanuel Akotua who seeking for justice noted that, since the incident happened his outfit has petitioned the Police hierarchy to take action against the Police officers but no result has come out.
However, he is pleading on any the Inspector General of Police, and other Human Rights activist to quickly intervene for justice to prevail.
Meanwhile, Prophet Justice Arhin, when contacted denied the allegations leveled against him.
‘’ I don’t have any issue with anybody, I don’t even know the person that you talking about’’ he told the reporter via telephone conversation.
