The Osudoku Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region has denied its involvement in what it describes as “disturbing secessionist actions” ongoing in some parts of the Volta Region of Ghana.

The disclaimer, according to the chiefs, has become imperative after one of the Divisional Chiefs of the Osudoku Traditional Area and a close associate of the paramount chief, Nene Tawiah Agblom ll, was arrested for allegedly partaking in the “unfortunate” development.

The Paramount Chief of the Osudoku Traditional Area, Aadegbor Ngmogmowuya Kwasi Animle Vl, in a statement, said the Osudoku Traditional Area remains, and will continue to be part of Ghana, admonishing his sub-chiefs and people of Osudoku, especially the youth, not to involve in such unacceptable venture as they do that at their own peril.

He emphasised that Osudoku will not support an exercise which undermines the peace and security of Ghana, and urged the security agencies to do their work.

The secessionists claim the Volta Region is not part of Ghana and are demanding independence for the territory they recognise as Western Togoland.

The Osudoku paramount chief also reacted to publications of land allegations levelled against him.

Members of the La, Nor, Dakakusi and Boba Tsangmeh Clans of Osudoku, last week, accused the paramount chief of hiding behind the Traditional Council to take over their lands under the guise of re-demarcating it, a move they say contravenes Dangme tradition of having only clan and family lands, and not stool lands.

Aadegbor Ngmogmowuya Kwasi Animle Vl debunked all the allegations made against him, saying that but for his accusers having proceeded to the law court with the case, he would have backed his response with available documentary evidence.

He was surprised that the four clans could not wait for the outcome of the court case but have decided to prosecute their own case in the media.

Aadegbor Ngmogmowuya Kwasi Animle Vl, therefore, stated that since the issues are pending in court, he will not want to delve into the details, adding that the agenda of the plaintiff shall be exposed after judgement.
