It is emerging that there are other cases of kidnapping in other parts of the country even before the worrying case in Takoradi is resolved.

Although the Western region case has grabbed all the national headlines, the police in Ho in the Volta region say they are also investigating a case of kidnapping involving a 17-year-old lady.

According to the family of Marion Lumor, a student of Sunrise Senior High School, she got missing on Monday when she went to pay her school fees at the bank.

Narrating the incident to Joy News, Beatrice Dzovakpor, her auntie said all efforts to reach her proved futile until the kidnappers begun sending images of her demanding a ransom.

“She said she wanted to cut her hair before school resumes, once she finishes from the bank so I gave her the money. Two hours later, I tried to reach her but it was ringing without anyone answering it.

“My sister called from the bank to tell me that she did not make it to the bank, so I got curious. I concluded that either the money is missing and she is in town trying to find our driver to get some money,” she said.

According to her, they began to get alarmed and rushed to her school to see if she had gone there but she was nowhere to be found.

Ms Dzovakpor said on her way to the police station, the pictures from the alleged kidnappers started flooding into her phone with the ransom demand.

“They said that I should not worry and that she is safe and I should cooperate with them so they do not harm her. I panicked because I thought they were going to kill her, but I lodged the complaint with the police nonetheless,” she said.

The kidnappers used Marion’s phone to engage her aunt pressing home their demand for a ransom.

Things were getting out of so they had to search possible places the kidnappers were hiding her but to no avail.

“This morning [Wednesday] one of my cousins called from Aflao and told me he had seen her walking with someone and he immediately raised an alarm and he was arrested and brought to Ho,” she narrated.

Since her return home, she Marion has been sent to the hospital for a medical check-up as well as a statement was taken by the police.

Ms Dzovakpor said Marion told her how she was forcibly given some concoction to drink, she got dazed and was blindfolded by her kidnappers.

At the time of Joy News’ Mawuli Yevu-Agbi’s visit to the family home, she was said to be responding to treatment to deal with the trauma she has suffered.

The police say they are getting varied information from their investigations and they will go through the telephone conversation and calls on Marion’s phone.
