Tragically, 13 lives have been lost in a horrific accident at Awoshie.

An unfortunate accident took place on Saturday dawn around 3:45 am at Awoshie in the Ablekuma North Constituency, resulting in the loss of approximately 13 lives.

This incident occurred when a public transport vehicle collided with an abandoned truck at the Banyard intersection in Awoshie, Accra.

The red passenger vehicle collided with the unattended truck, which had the brand name “Everpure” and registration number GB 8896-21.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the red Toyota Hiace accidentally collided with the stationary KIA Rhino Truck that was loaded with bags of sachet water.

The truck had been left parked in the middle of the road due to a mechanical issue.All of the deceased, with the exception of the driver, mate, and a few others, were reportedly travelling from Ablekuma to Accra.

The lack of traffic lights and street lights along the main Awoshie Pokuase Highway has been a persistent concern for the residents of Awoshie.Every effort to communicate with individuals in positions of power has consistently proven to be fruitless.

Residents kindly request the prompt assistance of the Assembly Member for the Awoshie electoral area, the MCE, and the Outgoing MP Honourable Shiela Bartels in addressing the issue of non-functional street lights and traffic lights.How much longer will you continue to observe as our people perish?

It is time for the kind-hearted residents of Awoshie to unite and organise a massive demonstration against the current authorities. A resident expressed the need for holding them accountable.
